The 5th China-Mongolia-Russia Seminar on Transboundary Animal Disease (TAD) Prevention and Control was held in Ulan Bator, Mongolia from Sept.11 to 12, 2015. The three sides conducted in-depth analysis on animal disease situation in the region, exchanged views and discussed issues on further strengthening cooperation in veterinary service.

At the seminar, the delegates from veterinary authorities of China, Mongolia and Russia, along with representatives of competent international organizations noted that currently global animal health and veterinary public health are still faced with some stern challenges. Outbreaks of some emerging and reemerging animal diseases including African swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease have been reported from time to time across many places. Those diseases have affected local livestock production and caused great losses of people's lives and property, and may also threaten livestock production and public health in other countries and regions.

The delegates noted that the three countries and competent international organizations should further enhance exchanges and cooperation, leverage the platforms and expertise of international organizations and expand cooperation areas. Also, they should conduct effective communication and coordination, and work closely with each other to improve joint prevention and control of TAD.

Totally more than 60 delegates of China, Mongolia and Russia, FAO, OIE and other international organizations attended the seminar.
